People of Siberia: Old Believers
I met hundreds of interesting people in Siberia and Mongolia. The most spectacular, cheerful and hospitable of them live in small Siberian villages with strange names - Kuytun, Tarbagatay, Kunaley. They are Semeiskie or Old Believers, a unique ethnic group, a colourful blend of Ukranian, Belorussian and Polish culture, traditions, beliefs, folk tales and songs. Every time you visit them, you find something new in their life, something interesting for pictures.

Vladimir Kvashnin, The lost world of Circumbaikal Railroad
Vladimir Kvashnin from 'Raleigh - Siberia' travels a lot at the Lake. One of his favourite places - the Old Circumbaikal Railway. Untill 1957 every train passenger saw those views through windows. Nowadays only few travellers visit the turn-of-the-century world of Old Railway.

Speaking frankly, I never liked railways. But the misteriuos world of the Old Circumbaikal Railway enchanted me at once. There is something magnetic here. Hope these pictures will help you to feel the charm of one of the most interesting places in Siberia.

Vladimir Kvashnin.
