Architectural and ethnographic museum of Baikal region nations.

The museum is located in Verhnaya Beriozovka, which is considered to be one of the beauty spots of Ulan-Ude. Old homesteads and Buryat wooden yurts have been transferred to its territory. A lot of unique things telling about the culture and life of the Buryat nations are kept in the museum exhibits. The exhibition includes 7 large complexes.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL COMPLEX

The Complex is rich in such archaeological monuments as type-sites, site of ancient settlement "hunnu", burial grounds and cultic holy places. They all give the idea of remote ancestors way of living.

EVENK COMPLEX

The complex is an evenk settlement, consisting of several chooms (small buildings made of larch- bark, deer furs and birch-bark), sheds for keeping provisions; a boat and sledges. The choom of some shaman, surrounded by totemic images of birds, animals and fishes, that are used in making the ritual of invocation to spirits, is also here.

RUSSIAN OLD-LIVING COMPLEX

The complex is consisted of a village with one-sided building with typical wood houses of different sections of the population of the region. These are the houses of some Cassack ataman, middle and poor peasants. They speak volumes for the material contrast that was characteristic of most russian villages of Baikal region.

RUSSIAN COMPLEX OF OLD-BELIEVERS

It is typical street with one-sided building. One can find peasants houses of different welfare there: the house of some prosperous master with all its backhouses, a house of a poor man and a rich salesman.

TRADE AND HANDICRAFT COMPLEX

Here visitors can see the home and tools of gold hunters, lodges and other historical exhibits with their own eyes.

URBAN COMPLEX. OLD VERCKNEUDINSK

Among the interesting monuments of this complex is a wood building, enriched with carvings, with some outside covered ladder and attic. Opposite to the complex one can see the Church of Old Believers. it amazes visitors wish its extraordinary architecture with a rich iconostasis.


THE SECTION OF WILDLIFE

Here one can get a foretaste of the animals that are characteristic of the nature of Baikal region, that formed material and spiritual culture of ethnic groups.
